Stink Bugs

Growing up in suburban America, I think I could identify a stink bug, but I don’t remember ever seeing them in my home and definitely couldn’t recognize the distinctive odor that they give off when they are smooshed. I heard tale of the buggers from friends and family in Pittsburgh while I was living in DC and their schemes to eliminate them. Alas, they’re now inhabiting my personal space and have taken up residence in every nook, cranny and blah.
A few weeks ago, a friend visited from Colorado and was absolutely disgusted when I nonchalantly plucked a live stink bug from the guest room dresser and dropped it in the toilet. To me, they are so commonplace that I didn't even realize how often I encounter them and mindlessly get rid of them.
The worst part about the invasion (other than their disgusting presence and odor) is that Sam thinks its fun to snatch them up and eat them. Several hours later, he pukes them up. And never links the behavior to the consequence. Oh. Dogs. And. Bugs.
