Day in and day out, we are chopping wood, preparing for the upcoming winter season. Propane is expensive and we much prefer the dry wood stove heat, so we’ve agreed to heat our house primarily with the wood stove this year. The previous owners put a lot of love into building this house themselves, but left he house shuttered in the winter while they enjoyed the Florida sunshine for the coldest months. When the wind blows, I can feel the breeze while sitting on my couch, so I’m sure that our heat rapidly escapes outside. Adam definitely bears the brunt of work, but I justify letting him since he has long stretches away from work. While we do have a chainsaw and log splitter to do a lot of the hard labor, I’m getting pretty good a wielding an axe. And double win for chores combined with cardiovascular and muscle-building activity.
